10 year highschool reunion

Elam's party was over and it was time to start getting ready for the reunion.

My best friend from highschool, bridget stopped by to say hi to my family before going to get ready.

Gibson and Haven weren't around b/c Haven was so upset that I was leaving her that night, so, Oma did what any grandma would do and took them to McDonalds!

The reunion was on Mud Island. (Memphis, TN)

This is Nathan. He was basically our only 'guy' friend.

This is Margaret. She and I went to elementary school together. After graduation, we both went to UT Martin, but we never saw each other. It was nice to see her.

This is Natalie. She went to Craigmont highschool and Bellevue baptist church with me. She has gotten prettier and prettier since graduation.

Tracy also went to church and school with me. There were only a few Craigmont Chiefs at Bellevue and we all liked to stick together.

Josh and Andrew, (josh is bridget's husband) didn't think they would have much fun, but everytime I looked over at them they were laughing. They basically were each other's dates.

This is Karri. We saw each other once after highschool. It was in a movie theater bathroom. The conversation went like this,

"I'm getting married!"

"Me too!"

"We met at school."

"We did too!"

"We are getting married May 13th!"

"WE ARE TOO!"

We both got married the same day AND we both had our first child in July 2002.

So, we both won the award for being married the longest. We also got awards for having the most kids. She is pregnant with her 3rd.

The reunion was really fun. Much more fun than I thought it would be. I'm so glad i went.

The baby boy is one

This is how my happy one year old woke up on Saturday.

After a bath, he was ready to party.

The party couldn't start till brother and sister showed up. Elam was so excited to see them.

Grani and Papa brought the decorations and this cute "1" year old hat.

Aunt DiDi was the host of this party. She had a friend of hers make a delicious homemade cake!

Elam had a little taste before the party started.

It took a year, but Elam is finally using the sign for "more."

It's been a quiet and lonely week for Elam and Mommy. Gibson and Haven have been traveling and visiting family in Arkansas and in Tennessee. I guess Elam has really been missing them because he's been wanting to talk on the phone.

He will get to see his brother and sister again this weekend. We will pick them up in Memphis AND have a birthday party for Elam AND Andrew and I will go to my highschool reunion.

Where did Gibson want to go for his birthday dinner? Chick Fila again?? No. Chuck E. Cheese?? No.

McDonalds? yes!

"I'm five."

After Gibson was done eating he went to play. He immediately wanted to join in on a big boy game of Hide and seek. I'm not sure how old they were. Maybe 7. I was carefully listening and watching to see what the bigger boys would say and do. At first they told him no, but my son doesn't always listen to that word. Eventually they let him play. He doesn't understand that game. (He usually jumps out after the seeker is done counting) They weren't sure what to do with him, but soon they realized how much fun he was having just playing with them, so they continued to include him in their game even though he played it wrong.

After dinner it was time to go home and open a few more presents.

Gibson had a present from Aunt Annaliese.

It was a cool Lightning McQueen remote control car!

Then he opened mommy and daddy's present. Haven helped me wrap it. We had to turn Christmas wrapping inside out, so we put stamps on the plain side. She did a good job with his card. She wrote his name on the front and then put her name inside. I wasn't sure she could watch me wrap and then not imediately tell Gibson what it was, but she didn't.

Boomer got in on the fun too. He would watch the cars go around and around and around. Then, he attacked it!! At one point he grabed the car and took off with it in his mouth!

It was a fun day. I needed a hug though, because my little boy is now 5!
